Prachuap Nakham, assistant chief of Chiang Mai train station, said Mangin Agnes, 38, and her husband arrived at the station, proved it was their money and it was returned to them.

They expressed gratitude towards the State Railway of Thailand and donated 2,000 baht to the state enterprise in return.

The unidentified cleaner found a pair of black trousers lying in the passageway of a sleeping carriage of the Chiang Mai-bound express train. The money was in a pants pocket.

The train had departed from Bangkok on Wednesday evening and reached Chiang Mai on Thursday morning.
