PHUKET — A Chinese tourist snorkelling off Koh Racha, about 25 kilometres from this resort city, drowned on Sunday, police said.
He Hua, 38, was on a day trip with family and friends when the incident occurred, Phuket Tourist Police chief Urumporn Koondejsumrit told the Phuket Gazette.
He said others in the group were eating on the beach when the 38-year-old tourist decided to go snorkelling alone. No one noticed he disappeared until his body washed ashore around 1.40pm.
He's body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital where doctors planned to determine the exact cause of death. The Chinese consulate in Phuket was notified.
