Seven hurt by explosion at LPG station

SURIN – Seven technicians were injured by a gas explosion when they were carrying out an annual inspection of valves at an LPG service station on Monday evening.

Police said the explosion occurred around 5.30pm Monday at an LPG station on the Surin-Sikhoraphum Road in Sikhoraphum district.

Rescue teams took the injured technicians to a hospital. One was reported to have been seriously burned.

Suwan Kaewphuang, 55, a worker at the gas station said the technicians were changing the valves when heard an explosion and then people wailing for help. He called the police immediately and helped send the injured to a hospital.

People reported smelling gas in the area for a time after the explosion.

The police were investigating.
