Love triangle death plunge overnight

A 29-year-old man fell to his death from the sixth-floor of the Major Ratchayothin building in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district late Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.

The body of the man, identified only as Joel and said be a Thai-Maalysian, was discovered on the ground floor of the building about 10pm, police said.

His girlfriend, whose name was not disclosed, told police the man had asked her to meet him at Starbucks coffee shop inside Major Ratchayothin. He was drunk when he showed up, the woman said.

Her boyfriend had become romantically involved with another woman, leading to a quarrel with her, she added.

She left the shop and went to her vehicle in the parking lot on the sixth floor of the building, and he followed. He told her that he would commit suicide, but she paid no attention. He then walked to the rail at the outside edge of the floor, and jumped off, the woman said.

Police said they believed there was a love triangle involved, but were investigating further.
