The National Energy Policy Council (NEPC) has increased the price of compressed natural gas for vehicles by 50 satang a kilogramme to 13 baht, effective on Saturday, Energy Minister Narongchai Akrasanee said.
The price rise is only half the anticipated at one baht a kilo, Mr Narongchai said the adjustment was suitable to the current circumstances. The government had to look at the impact on vehicle owners to alleviate the effect.
The meeting resolved that the current selling price of the NGV was still lower than the market cost, so the gradual increase was necessary.
The pump price for public transport vehicles would also be increased to 10 baht, from 9.50 baht a kilo.
