They earlier detained them while hunting for the man who raped 10 women in Nakhon Pathom and Samut Songkhram provinces over the past four years.

One of suspects was an ex-soldier and the other was a former electrician student.

They were now cleared after the negative DNA tests.

Officers are now searching several areas in the provinces for more clues and examining existing evidence in hand, said Pol Col Akaradej Pimoslri, acting commander of the Crime Suppression Division on Friday.

Police are hunting for a man who has allegedly raped 10 elderly or middle-aged women in the two provinces between 2010 and 2015. Two of the victims were killed.

The most recent case occurred in Nakhon Pathom on Sunday. A man attacked a 73-year-old woman while she was sleeping in her bedroom after poisoning her dog to death.
