Pattaya pickpockets snatch B4,000 from Indian tourists

Two pickpockets were arrested yesterday after allegedly snatching 4,000 baht from Indian tourists in Chon Buri province.

Police identified the suspects as Mongkolchai Tharana, 33, from Chachoengsao, and Thanawut Nahor, 36, a Khon Kaen native.

Police seized all the cash from the first suspect.

Pattaya station was alerted to the theft in front of a hotel on Pattaya Sai 2 Road in Bang Lamung district early yesterday. Two Indian tourists — Rajnish Gupta and Sandeep Dhawan — were asking for help from passersby.

The victims said the pair approached them while they were sightseeing in Pattaya. The suspects tried to seduce them into having sex.

Once they were distracted, Ms Mongkolchai fished 4,000 baht out of Mr Gupta's pocket before fleeing the scene on a waiting motorcycle driven by Ms Thanawut.

Police chased the pair and finally apprehended them in Phetchatragoon Soi on Pattaya Nua Road.
