Thailand sends condolences to Japan

Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha has sent condolences to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe over the purported killing of Japanese journalist Kenji Goto by Islamic State militants, the Foreign Ministry said Monday.

The ministry said on its website that Gen Prayuth expressed moral support with the Japanese government and its people as well as Goto's kin in a letter of condolence sent to Mr Abe on Sunday.

Foreign Minister Thanasak Patimakorn also sent a condolences letter to his Japanese counterpart, the ministry said.
