MPB transfers 6 cops over prostitution

The chiefs of two police stations in Bangkok and four other senior police officers have been transferred to inactive posts for allowing prostitution in their jurisdiction areas.

Metropolitan Police Bureau commissioner Pol Lt Gen  Sriwara Rangsipharmnakul signed the order Tuesday sending Pol Col Jinnawat Konthongdee, chief of Bukkhalo police station, his deputy Pol Lt Col Wiwattanachai Bunyanupong, suppression investigators Pol Lt Col Pongpol Laomeechaicharoen and Pol Lt Col Harnchai Thamsaksit and investigation chief Pol Lt Col Mahapol Meesen to assist with work at the MPB's operations centre for 30 days.

The transfers, which took effect on Feb 2, followed a raid on the Shap Club and Spa on Somdej Phrachao Taksin Road in the Bukkhalo area of Thon Buri district on Jan 29 in which three people were caught offering prostitution services at the establishment.

Chokechai police chief Pol Maj Gen Piyaphan Pingmuang also has been moved to assist with work at the MPB's sub-division 4 for 30 days for allowing the flesh trade to flourish in his jurisdiction area, said a source, adding the order was recently signed by sub-division 4 chief Pol Maj Gen Piyaphan Pingmuang.
