Post's Sanitsuda wins press award

Bangkok Post journalist Sanitsuda Ekachai will be awarded two outstanding women in the media prizes by the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and the Sathira Dhammastan Centre.

Sanitsuda: Also bags Tara Award

The ministry will award women in various fields for their outstanding work to mark International Women's Day which falls on March 8.

In the mass media category, organisers say Sanitsuda is being awarded for her long-standing commitment to expose the causes of social and development problems, to address prejudice against ethnic minorities, and promote empathy that cuts across cultural and racial boundaries.

The award presentation ceremony will be held early next month.

Sanitsuda will also receive the Tara Award from the Sathira Dhammastan, a nunnery and meditation centre.

She is being honoured for her writing on Buddhism and other works in journalism which the centre says contributes to the betterment of society. The award presentation ceremomy will be held at the Sathira Dhammastan Centre on Feb 22.
