Authorities seized 76 phayung tree logs (Siamese rosewood) worth about nine million baht found hidden at a rubber plantation along the Thai-Cambodian border in Si Sa Ket’s Khun Han district on Wednesday.

A team of forestry officials and soldiers went to Ban Non Thonglang in tambon Kantrom  in Khun Han district on Wednesday after receiving a tip that log poachers had hauled illegally felled phayung logs from a nearby forest to a rubber plantation near the border village.

They searched the area and found a total of 76 phayung logs, between 50 and 200 cm long, scattered around the plantation.  The precious wood was worth about nine million baht, officials said.
