An anti-drugs team in Sattahip district, Chon Buri, set up a roadblock to detain a 31-year-old woman on Tuesday evening at the instigation of her boyfriend, an assistant district registrar. The incident was recorded on video.
In the video, a car driven by Suchada Intuwong is pulled over by officers near Bang Saray beach. They tersely tell her to step out of the vehicle and start questioning her and checking the car, amid the sound of sirens.
Ms Suchada, a livestock officer, appears frightened.
A minute or so later one of the officers tells her that their superior has arrived at the scene. She turns to meet the man, appears shocked and angry, and tries to walk away from him.
In a sudden turn of events, the woman manages a smile when the man presents her with a bouquet of roses and holds her in his arms.
The man is Ms Suchada's boyfriend and orchestrated the whole thing to surprise her and make a marriage proposal.
