Anti-vice drive bags two Malaysian 'pimps'

Two suspected Malaysian pimps and a Thai woman were arrested yesterday while offering sex services to an undercover police officer in a border town in Songkhla province.

Sadao police identified the Malaysian suspects as Wu Kimheng, 37, and Lee Tekseng, 26.

An 18-year-old woman from Chiang Rai was also arrested for prostitution.

Malaysian banknotes, which the undercover officer used in the sting operation, were confiscated as evidence.

The sting operation was set in motion after the undercover officer posing as a customer contacted his superiors saying he had lured the alleged procurers into offering him prostitutes.

He paid the two men 200 Malaysian ringgits (about 1,800 baht).

The pair were later arrested when they turned up with the girl at a hotel near the Thai-Malaysia border in Ban Dan Nok, Sadao district.

Police have charged the Malaysian pair with deceiving women and luring them into prostitution and procuring prostitutes.

The arrests were part of a three-day anti-vice campaign involving entertainment venues along the Thai-Malaysia border in Songkhla. The campaign is part of a government policy to suppress human trafficking and prostitution.
