A relative of a volunteer nurse who was among six killed during the 2010 red-shirt riot at Wat Pathumwanaram has threatened to file a police complaint if the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) fails to make progress in the investigation into the killings.
Nutthaphat Akkhahad, younger brother of nurse Kamonked Akkhahad, said his family has given the NACC three months to make strides on the case or he would file a complaint with the Crime Suppression Division against the NACC for negligence of duty.
His letter to NACC president Panthep Klanarongran yesterday demanded he put pressure on investigators overseeing the case.
Six people were found dead in the temple on May 19, 2010, killed when security forces moved in to disperse a rally staged by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship at its main base at the Ratchaprasong intersection.
The temple had been designated as a safe area for protesters.
Mr Nutthaphat said he lodged a complaint to the NACC on Jan 24, 2011, asking it to investigate the case.
Four years later, no progress has been made, he said.
He compared the investigation of his sister's death to the investigation into former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra's corruption-plagued rice-pledging scheme, which was concluded within 18 months.
Mr Nutthaphat noted his demands have nothing to do with Ms Yingluck, but rather illustrate the NACC's ability to execute a speedy investigation when it wants to do so.
Mr Nutthaphat said his family is concerned the investigation is not being carried out fairly.
A court found state officials are responsible for the six deaths.
It found officials were stationed near the elevated train tracks in front of the temple, where the bullets were fired from.
He said the NACC has not contacted Mr Nutthaphat's family since the complaint was filed. It has not asked for further evidence and have not been further questioned.
He said the NACC must take this case more seriously.
