Court approves ASTV warrant

A military court has approved an arrest warrant for an ASTV Manager webmaster after he allegedly posted a forged statement from the Royal Household Bureau about His Majesty the King's health on the news website last week.

Niran Yaowapha faces charges of violating Section 112 of the Criminal Code, known as the lese majeste law, and the Computer Crimes Act. The false statement appeared on the online news website but was later removed after it was found to be untrue. ASTV posted an apology.

It is believed Niran will turn himself in to police on Tuesday.

After Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha last Tuesday ordered a search for people involved in the document, Niran reported to police to explain the mistake.
