A Turkish tourist was shot dead outside a Koh Samui pub early Friday, allegedly by a security guard who argued with him outside the Chaweng beach bar.
The unidentified 34-year-old Turk was shot in the head and abdomen in front of the Solo Bar. Two pistols, a knife, and about 100,000 baht in cash were found near the body, police said. Kabin Srisa-ard, the guard, surrendered to police.
According to police, the tourist went to the Solo Bar drunk about 2am and asked staffers to open the venue to serve him. An employee told him the pub was closed, and he left angrily. But soon he returned and argued with Mr Kabin, during which the Turk pulled a gun, police said. Police say Mr Kabin fired his own weapon in self-defence.
