The deputy chief administrator of a tambon administrative organisation in Chumphon province was shot dead by her boss inside a supermarket after he saw her with another man.

Tada Yangsathit, 38, was shot three times in the chest by her boss Norapat Petcharaporn, 45, after he came across her with another man shopping in Tesco Lotus Chumphon.

Police said the gunman is the chief administrator of Suan Taeng Tambon Administrative Organisation in Lamae district and the victim was his deputy. He is married, but had an affair with her.

The woman tried to split up with Pol Cpl Norapat, but he would not hear of it.

Late Tuesday evening, Pol Cpl Norapat saw Tada walking with another man, Sorasit Eiewkarnna, 41, near a phone counter inside the hypermarket. Pol Cpl Norapat walked up to them and talked to Tada, then he pulled her away from the other man and they argued. He then pulled out a .45 pistol and shot once at Mr Sorasit, and three times at Tada, witnesses said.

Mr Sorasit was not hurt, as the bullet missed him, but Tada died on the spot. The TAO chief administrator fled in his pickup truck, but later turned himself in on Wednesday morning.

Mr Sorasit told the police he had not known the slain woman for long. She had asked him to help her look for a new mobile phone, and they ran into Pol Cpl Norapat, who pulled her away from the phone vendor's  counter and they began arguing.

Mr Sorasit said he tried to stop the argument. Pol Cpl Norapat fired a shot at him, but missed,  and then he shot and killed Tada.

Pol Cpl Norapat later surrendered and told police that he acted out of jealous anger on seeing Tada with another man. He was charged with first-degree murder and carrying and firing gun in public.

The incident was captured by a closed-circuit camera and was later shared on social media.
