Irishman falls to death in Chon Buri

A 49-year-old Irishman plunged to his death from the 36th floor of a condominium building in Bang Lamung district, near Pattaya, late Wednesday night.

A security guard is qeustioned by police about the death of an Irishman who fell from his 36th floor condo near Pattaya late Wednesday night..

His Thai girlfriend later told police he had a serious property problem in his homeland.

Police were informed of the incident about 10pm Wednesday. The body of the man was seen in the compound of the Zire Wongamat Condominium on Na Klua 18 Road in Na Klua sub-district. The man lived in a room on the 36th floor of the adjacent Sky Beach Condominium.

His 47-year-old Thai girlfriend told police they had gone to celebrate Chinese New Year. When they returned to their condominium, the man became stressed after reading an email. Then he had quarrelled with her and punched her in the face.

She left and returned to their room with two security guards. They saw him smoking on the balcony and he suddenly jumped over the bannister and fell to his death.

The Thai woman said that her boyfriend had complained about a legal dispute in Ireland. He said the Irish government was about to seize his residence there. She said she had been with the man for two years.
