Two French nationals have been arrested for selling contraband sportswear including team football jerseys online following a raid in Pattaya on Saturday.

The arrests took place after Chon Buri police, armed with a court warrant, searched a house in South Pattaya on Saturday morning.

They found 11 parcels containing 16 shirts bearing brand names including Adidas and Nike. The suspect, identified as Olivier Simon Guigui, 30 was preparing to send the items by mail to customers in France, officers said.

Police also found lists of customers wanting to buy the counterfeit products and accounts detailing payments for the goods.

A follow-up investigation led to the arrest of another French national believed to be involved in the illegal trade.

Morgan Akcherirlian, 30, was apprehended at an apartment in Soi 6 off Phra Tamnak Road in South Pattaya. Some counterfeit sportswear was seized from his room as well.

Police said the two men had opened a website to fake versions of well-known branded shirts. They had purchased the fake products from Thai traders for sale in France.

Police charged the men with selling counterfeit products in violation of the Trademark Act before handing them to Pattaya police for further legal action.
