Teen gangs wreak havoc in Ranong

Two teen motorcycle gangs wreaked havoc in Muang district of Ranong province overnight, brawling, firing guns, setting a motorbike ablaze and disturbing nearby residents, according to Khaosod Online.

The disturbance began shortly after midnight when a group of teenagers from another community arrived on motorcycles at Soi 5 in tambon Bangrin. They fired gunshots into an internet shop where their rivals were playing computer games.

They were in turn attacked and chased by the other gang on motorcycles.  The two groups clashed in Soi 9, about 2km away from the internet shop. They attacked one another with knives, wooden batons and fired gunshots.

One of the two gangs withdrew after the clash, leaving behind a motorcycle that was then set on fireby the other gang.

The melee took place about 50m from the house of Nopparat Kong-asa, the village chief, who said he could do nothing to stop them.

Police dispatched to the scene arrived to find only the burning motorcycle and debris scattered up and down Soi 9 in tambon Bangrin.

There were no reports of casualties.
