11 injured as THAI plane hits turbulence

Eleven people were injured when a Thai Airways (THAI) plane from Japan to Bangkok hit turbulence before landing safely at Suvarnabhumi Airport yesterday. 

The Airbus A340-600, carrying 227 passengers, two pilots and 22 crew members, took off from Narita International Airport at 10.36am in Japan (8.36am, Thai time). The aircraft, Flight TG 641, hit bad weather while flying at 21,000 feet, causing injuries to passengers and crew, Thai Airways International president Charamporn Jotikasthira said without elaborating.

The plane landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 3.51pm, and the injured were taken to a hospital, he said.
