The Bangkok restaurant of Indian-born Gaggan Anand cinched the top award at Asia's 50 Best Restaurants late Monday.

The restaurant, which describes its cuisine as progressive Indian, was selected by the William Reed Business Media group for its modern interpretations, with the panel citing its "contemporary techniques" and "playful" dishes.

Rounding out the top 3 were Narisawa in Tokyo and Ultraviolet in Shanghai.

The group also runs the award for World's 50 Best Restaurants and Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants.
