Tourist hurt in katoey shoe attack

A Polish tourist suffered serious facial injuries after she was hit with a high-heeled shoe by a transvestite who had been talking to her husband in Pattaya early Sunday morning.

The transvestite, Plakad Somchan, 23, a native of Ubon Ratchathani, was arrested by a team of tourist officers lead by Pol Col Sukkhathat Pumpanmuang, chief of Pattaya police.

A high-heeled shoe used in the attack was seized.

Mr Plakad was accused of using the shoe to hit 42-year-old Polish woman Kaparzyna Pietrzycki who was treated at Pattaya Memorial Hospital. 

The incident took place at the entrance of Soi BJ off South Pattaya Walking Street.

Police said Ms Pietrzycki told them she and her husband were walking along the street early Sunday morning and her husband went to talk with the transvestite.  

She created a scene, causing Mr Plakad to get angry.

Mr Plakad confessed he assaulted the woman in a fit of anger. 

Police have charged him with assault causing physical and mental harm to another person. He was held in police custody for legal action.
