A 40-year-old man who had sexually abused his young daughter for five years was finally arrested in Chon Buri after his wife reported him to police, saying her husband had also been beating her for years.
Police apprehended the man, a native of Lamduan district in Surin, at a house in tambon Bang Pla Sroi in Chon Buri’s Muang district on Friday, said Pol Lt Boonsita Hasin, a duty officer at Muang police station.
The suspect has been charged with sexually and physically assaulting his daughter.
According to police, the man admitted he had sexually abused his daughter since she was 10 years old. The girl is now 15. He claimed he could not control his sexual urges after drinking alcohol, Thai media reported on Friday.
He told police he had tried to stop abusing his daughter after his wife learned about it, but lost control whenever he drank alcohol.
Police said the man had three children - two daughters, aged 15 and 12, and a son, aged 2. The eldest child was the victim.
His wife said she had tried unsuccessfully to stop him raping their daughter. He had responded by beating her whenever she tried to intervene. Her husband's repeated assaults drove her to report him to police.
