HUA HIN — The government will open a Hua Hin university on a 900-rai site in Bo Nok district of Prachuap Khiri Khan in honour of His Majesty the King.

The school will focus on producing a new breed of farmers who embrace the sufficiency economy concept, as well as royal projects, Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd, a deputy spokesman of the Prime Minister's Office, said after the cabinet meeting in the resort town on Friday.

The university, proposed by the Prachuap Khiri Khan governor, will also train hotel and tourism professionals to support a new economic zone to be set up in the future.

The university would be completed in fiscal 2016-17 as part of the celebrations for His Majesty's 90th birthday, he said.
