A six-wheel truck taking 16 workers of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand to a work site in a mountainous area in Mae Mo district of Lampang province on Sunday overturned, injuring everyone on board, police said.

Pol Lt Col Sarancheep Nonda, a duty officer at Mae Mo police station, said the accident occurred on a dirt road through a forest about 10km from Ban Soppat while the truck was moving slowly uphill.

The truck overturned after it did not have enough power to climb up a steep slope and the driver tried to stop it from running backwards downhill.

Three of the workers — Roli Chansena, Saksit Kaewpikul and Choei Poldee — were seriously injured. They were admitted to Lampang Hospital.

The others injured, including the driver, were admitted to Mae Mo district hospital.
