Norwegian slays friend, shoots himself during darts game

A 59-year-old Norwegian citizen shot dead his 55 year-old compatriot and then shot himself in the face during an argument during a game of darts at a restaurant in Cha-am beach resort town on Thursday night, police said.

Police were called to the scene about 8.20pm.

They found the two men lying in pools of blood on the ground in front of Lek Switzerland restaurant on Cha-am-Khlong Thian Road in Cha-am district, Phetchaburi province, Pol Lt Col Yutthana Rattanaphan, a duty officer at Cha-am police station, said on Friday.

The 59-year-old Norwegian man had a gunshot wound to his right cheekbone. A 9mm pistol was found near him on the ground.

A 55-year-old fellow Norwegian was found near him with gunshot wounds to his stomach and back of his head. Both were rushed to Cha-am Hospital, where the 55-year-old was later pronounced dead.

According to police investigators, witnesses said four foreigners, including the two Norwegians, had dined together at the restaurant on Thursday night.

Afterwards, the two men left the table to play darts. During the game, an argument erupted and the angry 59-year-old pulled out a pistol and shot his friend twice. He then shot himself in the face.

Police were investigating.
