Twenty-five passengers were injured, one seriously, when an air-conditioned interprovincial bus travelling from Bangkok to Phuket overturned in Krabi on Saturday morning.

The bus, carrying 33 passengers, lost control and overturned at kilometre maker 17 on Khao Tor-Thap Put Road in Plai Phraya district of Krabi, said Pol Capt Prasert Jamsai, a duty officer at the Plai Phraya police station. Police were alerted around 6.30am on Saturday.

Of the 25 injured passengers, Wipawee Sriracha sustained serious injuries. The injured were taken to the Thap Put and Plai Phraya hospitals.

The bus belongs to Phuket Central Tour Co. Police said they were seeking driver Wichit Boonsung, who was believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel and fled the scene after the crash.
