Songkran revellers on Silom Road will have another day to splash themselves silly after city hall extended the new year’s celebration until midnight Wednesday.

The water fight started on Sunday and was due to run dry at 9pm tonight. But the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration decided to postpone closing its "tunnel of love" until midnight Wednesday because Thais and foreigners both continued to flock to the area, water guns in hand.

While it's possible to get drenched virtually anywhere in Bangkok April 13-15, Silom Road, Khao San Road, Chokechai 4 and Utthayan Road are the epicenters for water-splashing mayhem.

The BMA's so-called "big cleaning day", originally set to begin at 9am Wednesday, would launch after midnight instead.

The road is closed from Sala Daeng to the Narathiwat Ratchanakharin intersection until 9pm today and until midnight Wednesday, BMA officials said.
