Murdered Chiang Mai woman sodomised with bottle

Autopsy results on an unidentified woman found dead in a Chiang Mai hotel room show she had been sodomised so badly, a glass bottle was found in her abdomen.

Chiang Mai police chief Montri Sambunyanon on Wednesday called a meeting with police investigators handling the murder case after receiving the autopsy results from the Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital.

The autopsy showed the woman, found dead yesterday, had bruises on her face and severe cuts to her vagina and anus. An empty glass drinking-water bottle was found in her abdomen and forensic experts believe it was inserted into her anus, Thai media reported today.

Doctors believed the severe bleeding from her vagina and anus pains was the cause of her death. They also believe the bottle might have been inserted while she was still alive. Traces of semen and saliva on her breasts were awaiting DNA testing.

The woman's naked body was found lying face down on the bathroom floor of the hotel on Chang Klan Road in Muang district. The woman, in her late 20s, had four bites on her breasts.

Staffers at the hotel earlier told police that the woman and a man around 40 checked in early April 13, but the man left around 9.45am. A hotel maid found the woman's body around noon.

Pol Col Weerayut Prasopchokchai, chief of Chiang Mai Muang police station, said investigators were gathering evidence to seek court approval to issue a warrant for the arrest of the man, whose image was captured by a closed-circuit television camera. The man left the room on a motorcycle.
