Jealous student falls to his death

A university student from Myanmar fell to his death from the eighth floor of an apartment block in Bangkok’s Bang Kapi district in the early hours of Thursday.

Police called to the scene found his body lying on the ground below the 12-storey building on Soi Ramkhamhaeng 24 in Hua Mak area about 3.30am, said Pol Lt Col Saner Khongjood, a duty officer at Hua Mak police station.

The man, wearing a white T-shirt and black jeans, suffered a fractured skull, broken neck and broken legs. There were no traces of a struggle in his room on the eighth floor, Thai media reported on Thurday.

Police said the deceased was a fourth-year computer science student at Assumption Univesity and lived alone in his room. Before the tragedy, he and his  21-year-old Myanmar student girlfriend, who lived next door, visited a nightspot in the RCA area.

They had quarrelled after another customer tried to flirt with her and he flagged a taxi and took her back to the apartment building.

The young woman told police that upon arriving at his room he immediately opened the back door and jumped from the balcony. His girlfriend said she rushed downstairs to the ground floor to help him and called an ambulance, but he died.

Police sent his body to Police General Hospital for a postmortem to establish the cause of his death. The investigation was continuing.
