Four university students died when their sedan failed to take a curve and smashed into a oncoming six-wheel truck in Samut Prakan’s Bang Saothong district on Thursday night.
The accident occurred on Sri Waree Noi road near Wat Hua Khu in tambon Srisa Jorakae Noi around 11pm Thursday.
The truck driver, Virat Nakklieng, 43, said the car was travelling at high speed, crossed over the centre line and hit his truck on a corner when he was on the way home with his wife.
He checked the wreckage, saw there were four people inside and called the police.
Rescuers were unable to save their lives and all four died at the scene of the accident.
They were: the driver, Sathorn Konglua, 22; Jirayuth Kamlungkua, 21; Tawatchai Thaiyanuporn 22; and Pithawat Kiatdechawit 21. All were students at Huachiew Chalermprakiet University in Bang Phli district.
