Hundreds of doctors nationwide have volunteered to help in Nepal in the wake of the devastating earthquake near Kathmandu on Saturday that has killed more than 3,200 people and injured over 6,500.
The Medical Council of Thailand set up online registration for volunteers, and as of around 2pm Monday a total of 350 doctors had signed their names.
The council said on its website that volunteers would be put in groups based on their field of expertise to make it easier to match the demand to doctors with the needed skills.
It was not yet known what medical skills were needed most, but as soon as the information was available from Nepal registered volunteers with the requisite experience would be contacted.
It asked volunteers to be ready to face hardship. There were no basic facilities, food or water in the disaster areas, so they must be prepared for uncertainties.
