Thai faces deportation after insulting Filipinos online

MANILA — A Thai national faces deportation from the Philippines after insulting the locals on Facebook, news reports said.

Khlong Toey native Prasertsri Kosin, as seen in the profile photo for his “Koko Narak” Facebook page.

In a statement, the Bureau of Immigration said it lodged an undesirability charge against Prasertsri Kosin for calling Filipinos "pignoys," "stupid creatures," "low-class slum slaves" and "useless race in this world" under the name "Koko Narak" on the social network, Inquirer.net reported.

Immigration now was revising the visa status of Prasertsri Kosin, a spokeswoman was quoted as saying by the Sun Star Online.

He would be deported if found to be undesirable, she said.

Mr Prasertsri has since posted an apology.

"I am very sorry what I've done or posted the racist comments," he wrote, attributing the misunderstanding to "playfulness," Inquirer.net reported.

His employer, Cognizant Philippines, said on its own Facebook page it had taken disciplinary action, and distanced itself from his views.

Mr Prasertsri Facebook page was not displaying any of the activities or posts on the account.
