A cardboard box containing bombs and several kinds of ammunition was found near a police station in Khun Han district of Si Sa Ket province on Wednesday, Siamrath Online reported.
Local officials, soldiers and police hurried to a spot about 500 metres behind Sirikhunhan School and Khun Han police station after villagers reported they found a box dumped in some bushes at about 1pm.
The officials opened the box and found it contained eight home-made bombs, one M67 hand grenade, seven rounds of M60 machinegun ammunition, some gunpowder and an amount of sulphur.
Police offered no explanation for the discovery.
