The government will borrow 14.3 billion baht interest-free from the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission to pay for its water-management projects.
Deputy government spokesman Sansern Kaewkamnerd said Wednesday the cabinet decided yesterday to take out the loan from the NBTC's fund for telecommunications and broadcasting research and development.
The fund has about 20 billion baht and 14.3 billion baht of it was available for borrowing with about 5.4 billion baht reserved for telecommunications services, Maj Gen Sansern said.
The zero-interest loan would reduce the government's costs by about 560 million baht yearly, he said.
The government plans to spend 110 billion baht on water-management projects in the next two years.
