Bangkok rated 4th best value city-break destination

Bangkok is the fourth best value destination in the world for a city break, according to TripIndex Cities, an annual TripAdvisor cost comparison study.

TripIndex Cities compares the cost of a three-night break in 40 key tourist cities around the world, taking into account typical costs for two people.

These include: a four-star hotel for three nights, a visit to three attractions, lunch each day, a taxi to and from dinner each day, plus the cost of dinner itself.

TripAdvisor, the largest travel site, reported on Wednesday that a three-night city break in Bangkok cost an average of 27,533 baht, with lunch for two averaging 550 baht, dinner for two and wine 1,994 baht, a taxi ride 348 baht and the average price to a paid attraction 3,113 baht.

The basket of items includes three nights’ stay in a hotel in Bangkok, which is also the fourth cheapest in the world at 3,173 baht per night.

Hanoi was found to be the best value city break destination, with a three night trip for two in Hanoi costing an average 24,514 baht.

South East Asia has two other best value cities in the top ten, with Kuala Lumpur and Manila taking seventh and ninth places and costing an average 30,612 and 30,972 baht respectively.

The most expensive city break destination is Cancun in Mexico, costing 67,599 baht.
