The condition of a Mers-infected Omani man being treated in Nonthaburi is stable and tests on an at-risk Thai man in Chiang Mai turned out to be negative, said doctors.

The Omani man can now breathe normally and will eat by himself today, said Jariya Sangsujja, director of the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute, where the 75-year-old man is being treated.

His son and relatives also felt better with no fever or coughing, she said.

In Chiang Mai province, the two tests on a native man suspected of being infected turned out to be negative, said Surasing Vissarutrat, deputy chief of the Chiang Mai Provincial Health Office.

"He only has a cold and will be allowed to go home today," Dr Surasing said.

The office has tested four people at risk and all tests were negative. No more suspected cases have been reported, he added.
