Arrested Thai students arrive home from Pakistan

The five Thai students detained in Pakistan for attempting to take a gun on board a flight to Bangkok returned home on Thursday morning, the Foreign Ministry announced.

The students were detained by Pakistani police on June 8 after a pistol and ammunition were discovered in the hand luggage of Tuan Abdulrosah Loji, as the five of them were about to board a Thai Airways flight at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahor.

The Foreign Ministry worked with law enforcement agencies in Pakistan to secure their release.  Officials were sent to Lahor to follow the case and assist them with legal procedures.

The five students were finally released from the Lahor police station on June 22 and put in the care of the ministry officials.

The Thai students departed in a flight from Lahor on Wednesday at 11.40am and arrived home safely on Thursday morning.

The Thai embassy in Islamabad will continue to handle the legal case against the five students until it is complete.
