Toddler killed when father backs lorry over him

A two-year-old boy died after his father accidentally backed over him with a big lorry outside his home in Bangkok’s Lat Krabang district.

The accident occurred on Tuesday morning at a parking lot at Larn Shipping and Transport Co in tambon Khlong 3 Prawet. Budda Kanhawan, 39, told police he was reversing the 18-wheeler parked in front of his home to disconnect its trailer so he could go pick up a container in Nakhon Pathom province.

He felt the tractor's left-back tyre run over something and got out to check. That's when he found the body of his son under the wheel.

Mr Budda said his son was playing around at the back of the house and his wife was inside when he walked out to the vehicle.

The Nong Khai native said the boy toddler had never walked out to the parking lot and he had no idea when he followed him to the truck.

Police charged Mr Budda with reckless driving causing death.
