The body of a male foreigner was found washed up on the river bank near a bridge in Trang’s Sikao district on Monday morning, district police said.

The discovery was reported around 10am.

Pol Col Prasong Sriwimol, deputy commander of Sikao police station, said it was found near Khlong Por Bridge in tambon Mai Fard.

The deceased was a male foreigner wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts and was found lying face  down. There were no wounds on the body and no documents to identify him.

He appeared to have been dead for four to five days and might be a tourist who had a boat accident in the Andaman Sea, where the seas have been very rough with strong winds.

The body was sent to Songkhlanagarind Hospital in Songkhla province, where investigators will check records and try to identify him.
