Stockbroker surfaces as 2nd Chuwong mistress

A young stockbroker admitted to police on Friday that she also had an affair with late billionaire contractor Chuwong Sae Tang and that her mother received nearly 40 million baht in shares from him.

Uracha Wacharakulton, a 26-year-old broker with AEC Securities Plc, mother Srithara Promma, and their lawyer reported to Crime Suppression Division police on Friday to answer questions related to Chuwong, 50, who died in a Bangkok traffic accident in June.

Miss Uracha said she met the owner of Standard Performance Co through securities-business contacts, but said she had not handled his trading account.

She admitted that she had a relationship with Chuwong and that he had voluntarily transferred shares worth about 40 million baht to her mother.

Before the interview, she did not tell reporters how she got to know Chuwong and former deputy commerce minister Banyin Tangpakorn, who was the driver in the fatal accident.

Assistant police chief Prawut Thavornsiri, who questioned Miss Uracha, said that she started her relations with Chuwong in March this year and Pol Lt Col Banyin was aware of that.

Miss Uracha estimated the value of the shares she received from Chuwong at over 30 milion baht and the shares were transferred to the trading account of her mother which she always used for her share trade, Pol Lt Gen Prawut said.

He also said that Miss Uracha sold some of the shares on the Stock Exchange of Thailand to acquire cash for her own spending.

Police found the share transfers to Ms Uracha and another woman involved different groups of people, in line with the two women's claims that they did not know each other, Pol Lt Gen Prawut said.

Police were also trying to find out if Pol Lt Col Banyin had been involved with the share transfers, the assistant police chief said.

Miss Uracha is the second woman to come forward this week to admit to being the billionaire's mistress.

On Thursday, model and former golf caddie Kanthana Siwathanapol, 26, told police she was seven months pregnant with his child and that he had transferred to her shares worth more than 200 million baht.

Chuwong was found dead in the front passenger seat of a Lexus sports utility vehicle driven by Pol Lt Col Banyin after the vehicle hit a tree on Chaloem Phrakiat Road, Bangkok's Prawet district, on June 26.

Chuwong's family has asked authorities to investigate his death after finding out about his share transfers to the women.

Media earlier reported that both women also worked as models, and Pol Lt Col Banyin had convinced Chuwong to open trading accounts at some securities firms.
