Water in the reservoir at the Ubolratana dam in Khon Kaen has been increasing thanks to continuous rain, with an average of 3-4 million cubic metres of rainfall entering it each day.

The current flow rate, particularly from upstream areas of the dam, was satisfactory, said Wanich Saengsuwan, director of the Northeast hydropower plant at the Ubolratana dam. Supplies in public water reserves have also increased, he said.

As of Saturday, the reservoir contained 643 million cubic metres of water or 26% of its capacity, said Mr Wanich.

At this rate, he said, the dam would be able to continue discharging water to supply farmland. However, only 62 million cu m or 3% of the total capacity can be discharged. Discharges would total 2.5 million cu m a day for farmland and consumption, he added.
