Scavenging dog staggers home on ya ba high

SA KAEO – A dog that found a pack of speed pills nearly overdosed when it swallowed some of the methamphetamines while bringing it home to its owner in Aranyaprathet Monday.

Montri Mulsuk, a resident of tambon Fak Huay, reported to police that his dog Khao found a pack of ya ba and brought it home, so he asked police to check the contents at his house, according to Khaosod Online.

Khao fell unconscious after consuming the drug, so Mr Montri gave it water mixed with a Thai herb known as Rang Jued, or laurel clock vine. Khao later regained consciousness and is now out of danger.

Mr Montri told police that he spotted Khao staggering in front of the house so he checked him and found a black plastic package with small sachets of ya ba scattered nearby.

Pol Major Chaiya Maneesuth, an investigative officer at Aranyaprathet police station, examined the package and gathered 790 meth pills, including 30 that had spilled from the package.

The police suspected that the package was hidden by drug dealers at night for collection, but the dog found it first. The police will try to track down the gang for further legal action.
