The World Intellectual Property Organization will present its creative excellence award to HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on Aug 27.
Commerce Minister Chatchai Sarikulya said on Monday that prize went to the princess for her creative works, which contributed to sustainable development.
"Her Royal Highness has been really a champion at creativity and intellectual property and we have seen that across a wide domain," said WIPO director-general Francis Gurry who would present the award.
The princess produced about 350 creative works including poetry, prose and drawing illustrations. She was a champion of protecting traditional knowledge and geographical indications and also created the very successful Phu Fa brand, Mr Gurry said.
Phu Fa is the name of shops that the princess initiated to sell the products that poor and rural people make with local wisdom to help them increase income.
