Suicidal man pulled to safety on pedestrian bridge

A Japanese man who apparently intended to commit suicide by jumping from a pedestrian bridge in Bangkok’s Ratchathewi district on Wednesday was pulled to safety by police.

The man, aged 30-40 and wearing casual clothes, was seen climbing over the side of the pedestrian bridge at Mitsamphan intersection on Phetchaburi Road. People assumed he planned to commit suicide and immediately alerted police, INN News reported.

A woman pedestrian stopped and tried to persuade him not to jump and he seemed to calm down to a certain extent, the report said.

However, he still appeared agitated and would not let people approach him. Shortly after, police arrived. They overpowered him and pulled him to safety.

Police will question him later.
