Foreigners urged to have confidence on security

The government has pleaded for Thais and foreigners around the world to have confidence in Thailand's security measures.

The message was contained in a stement from the government read by spokesman Maj Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd on Sunday.

It said that since the violent incident at Ratchaprasong intersection on Aug 17, the government has kept the public informed of the situation, assistance given to the blast victims and the investigation to bring the culprits to account.

It said the government would like to give an assurance that the situation was under control. More personnel in uniform and plainclothes have been deployed at every crucial spot to ensure maximum security for everyone.

"The Thai government would like to send a message to all foreigners who plan to travel to Thailand for a visit - be it for tourism, business, education, a meeting, a seminar, a study tour, trade exhibition or any other purpose - that ัthey can be sure of their safety during their stay in the country.

"As always, you will be greeted with Thai hospitality, Thai smiles and Thai hearts."
