Thai Smile plane clips passenger bridge at Chiang Mai

CHIANG MAI – A Thai Smile Air plane hit the passenger bridge as it was moving into position to unload passengers at Chiang Mai international airport on Thursday morning.

Thai Smile flight WE150 from Bangkok’s Don Mueang airport arrived at Chiang Mai around 8am. Its left wing struck the passenger bridge as it manoeuvred on the terminal apron. There were no reports of injury. All passengers disembarked safely.

Chiang Mai international airport director Capt Visut Chantana said it appeared the heavily loaded plane may have skidded into the bridge.

There was nothing wrong with the terminal's equipment, so the fault would lie with the airline, he said.

Thai Smile Air is wholly owned subsidiary of SET-listed Thai Airways International.
