A fire destroyed a plastic recycling factory in Ban Pho district of Chachoengsao province early Monday morning.

Pol Lt Prem Suthi-udom of Ban Pho police station said about 20 fire engines from the Ban Pho Municipality and nearby local administration organisations rushed to the PVJ Plastic factory in tambon Laem Pradu after being informed of the fire, which started around 3am.

When the fire trucks arrived the fire was spreading quickly, fuelled by the inflammable plastic waiting to be recycled, and the four buildings on the 20-rai plot of land were in flames.

They could not get inside the factory compound because all the entrance gates were locked.

The fire engines were forced to wait outside as the fire razed the buildings.  Loud explosions were also heard. There was no one in the factory at the time of the fire.

It is the  third major fire at the factory. The first was in August 2008. There have also been several smaller fires.
