Somkiat Onwimol, a well-known academic in the field of mass communication and a former Suphan Buri senator, was injured in an accident in Saraburi province on Thursday morning, Pacific News Centre reported.
The accident occurred about 9.30am near kilometre marker 95 on Phahon Yothin highway in Nong Saeng district.

Jor Sor 100 radio said he was hurt after a Toyota Camry collided with a Honda Civic on the outbound side of the highway. The impact sent the Honda Civic sliding across the median strip to hit the car in which Mr Somkiat was travelling in a Bangkok-bound lane.
Mr Somkiat's car was then knocked into a Toyota Wish.
Mr Somkiat broke his left shin bone and left wrist in the collision, but remained conscious.
He was admitted to Saraburi Hospital.
